TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin men's track and field team is heading into next weekend's indoor conference championships in top form after a strong showing at Rose-Hulman's Friday Night Spikes Tune-Up on Friday (Feb. 17) evening.
The Grizzlies collected 79 points to finish second overall behind host Rose-Hulman but ahead of three other teams they're set to face off with at next weekend's indoor conference championships.
In the field events, Franklin collected three runner-up finishes with two coming in the throws from junior
Noah Sigler. The Avon, Ind.-native claimed runner-up in both the shot put (13.12m) and the weight throw (14.88m) to continue his strong indoor campaign. Over at the high jump, sophomore
Tristan Konkler cleared the 1.75m bar to claim a runner-up finish of his own.
Over on the track, Franklin picked up three more runner-up finishes on the night courtesy of
Eli Cochrane in the 800m (2:00.76),
Zach Roberts in the 60m hurdles (8.96) and the 4x400m team of Cochrane,
Logan McIntosh,
Drew McGaha and
Luke Paddock (3:28.26).
Other notable finishes on the night for the Griz included:
- Paddock placing third in the 400m in 52.97
- Jack Sells taking third in the mile in 4:34.47
- Nick Patton placing fourth in the 60m hurdle in 9.13
- McGaha taking fourth in the 800m in 2:04.20
- Corbin Lee placing fifth in the 3000m in 10:05.23
- McIntosh taking fifth in the 200m in 24.06
Next up for the Grizzlies are the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, which take place next Saturday (Feb. 25) in Cincinnati, Ohio.
