Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College softball team closed out their non-conference slate of games on Thursday (Apr. 28) afternoon, taking on the University of Chicago at Behrens Field.

The Grizzlies (20-15) and Maroons (16-15) split a pair of one-run contests, with Franklin rallying to win game one 5-4 and Chicago getting a measure of revenge with a 2-1 win in the night cap.

Game One: Franklin 5 – Chicago 4
Down by a pair in the bottom of the third, Franklin sliced the deficit in half with an RBI single from Sydney Bostic. The Maroons added a run in the fourth that Sydney Rodeghier got back with a one-out solo home run in the fifth that got the Grizzlies within 3-2.

The Maroons added another run in the sixth but left the bags full to end the inning. The Grizzlies made their guests pay in the sixth, with Ravyn McClaren singling in a run and Eriana Wagner coming through with a clutch two-out, two-run single that provided the winning difference.

Sydney Pitts (11-3) battled to win her eighth straight decision, striking out three and stranding 10 Maroon runners over seven innings of work. Bostic and McClaren both had two hits each to pace the FC offense.

Game Two: Chicago 2 – Franklin 1
Offense was at a premium in game two, as both starting pitchers combined to allow just seven total hits. Rodeghier scored Franklin's lone run of the game when she came in to score on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third inning, but the team's best scoring chance came in the sixth when they loaded the bases with one out before leaving the bags full.

Stephanni Kleber (6-9) tossed a gem for the Grizzlies, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts.
