Five Franklin Softball Players Named Academic All-District

5/28/2026 8:34:00 AM

Franklin softball put together one of the best seasons in program history on the field, but its players are also excelling away from the diamond.

The Grizzlies placed five players — senior Kaylee Stewart, juniors Lauren Duncan and Kendall Lowry and sophomores Jaylee Fansler and Liv Staigl — onto the CSC Academic All-District team, the maximum allowable number for any school.

To be eligible, athletes must have a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher. Position players must have played in at least 90% of their team's games or started two-thirds of them, while pitchers needed to make at least 17 appearances or throw 35 innings or more.

All five honorees are from Indiana. Stewart, a product of Greenfield, graduated with a degree in elementary education and came into the spring with a 3.66 grade-point average. Lowry, a biomedical science major from Mooresville, holds a 3.84 GPA. Duncan, a psychology major from Peru, maintains a 3.80. Fansler, a native of Bainbridge, owns a 3.88 GPA in neuroscience. Staigl, who hails from Danville, has a 3.83 GPA as an exercise science major.

Stewart is a two-time selection to the team. In addition, Fansler was chosen as a finalist for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced June 16.
