TERRER HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin College men's track and field team put in their final tune-up ahead of the conference championships on Friday (Apr. 22) night, taking part in the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet.
The Grizzlies capped off their regular season with a pair of event wins and a total of 74.5 points to place fifth out of eight teams.
The Grizzlies cleaned up in the field events, scoring their bulk of their points in the throws pit. Leading the way as he has done several times this spring was senior Zak Wiley, who picked up four top-six finishes. The Mooresville, Ind.-native claimed first in the hammer (49.37m), second in the discus (45.07m), fifth in the javelin (38.94m) and sixth in the shot put (12.56m).
Sophomore Noah Sigler put in a pair of top four finishes, taking third in the shot put (13.44m) and fourth in the hammer (44.47m). Dalen Williams placed fourth in the discus (41.92m), Chase Miles set a new PR and finished fourth in the javelin (39.92m) and Evan Hosea took home a fifth place finish in the hammer (44.15m). In the pole vault, freshman Tivon Wiley grabbed seventh place after clearing the 3.95m mark.
On the track, junior Zach Roberts picked up points in a pair of events, taking fifth in the 200m dash with a new PR of 22.50 and sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.15 seconds. Jaycee Wilburn placed fifth in the 800m in 1:58.63 and John Asplund earned a sixth place finish in the 3000m run in 9:02.01.
The Grizzlies will face off against the rest of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) next Friday and Saturday (Apr. 29-30) at the HCAC Outdoor Championships in Hanover, Ind.
