FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College softball team made their 2022 Behrens Field debut on Saturday (Mar. 5) afternoon with a couple of games against Greenville University on the docket.

The Grizzlies (1-3) found their way into the win column with an 11-6 victory in the opening contest. The Panthers (2-8) were able to salvage a split with a 15-3 win in the night cap.

Game One: Franklin 11 – Greenville 6
Emily Streib broke open the scoring in the bottom of the first, plating two with a double. A few batters later, Addie Csikos stretched the lead to 3-0 when she drew a bases loaded walk.

Franklin extended their lead in the fourth inning with a six-run frame. Sydney Bostic and Makiah Thomas recorded RBI doubles and Streib brought in two more runs with a single. The Grizzlies got insurance tallies in the sixth with RBIs from Syndey Rodeghier and Bostic and held off a Greenville rally in the seventh to close out the win.

Sydney Pitts (1-0) tossed six innings, giving up six runs on eight hits with a pair of strikeouts. Stephanni Kleber finished things off with a couple strikeouts in the final inning. Rodeghier and Thomas both had three hits to pace the Franklin offense.

Game Two: Greenville 15 – Franklin 3 (6 inn.)
The Panthers got the early jump with two runs in each of the first two frames. Molly Wallace knocked in a run in the third and two more in the fourth with a pair of doubles, but it was all the offense the Grizzlies would string together in the final game of the day.

Wallace, Csikos and Annie Kluemper all had two hits each. Delanie Gourley (0-2) gave up three earned runs over four innings of work as the game two starter.
