FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's tennis team played their final non-conference matches of the fall on Saturday (Sept. 25), when they welcomed Ohio Northern and Concordia Ann Arbor to Grizzly Park for senior day.
The Grizzlies (3-4) split their two matchups, dropping the opener to Ohio Northern (3-0) 9-0 before downing Concordia (0-3) by a 9-0 count. Between matches, the Franklin women's tennis program said thank you to the six members of their senior class: Maddie Bright, Grace Otte, Emma Foley, Sydney Logsdon, Chelsie Whorton and Madison Pifer.
In their matchup with Concordia, seniors Foley and Logsdon teamed up to take an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. FC's second pairing of Claire Cherry and Maecee Terhune were 8-2 winners while another senior tandem, Whorton and Pifer, teamed up for an 8-1 win in the final doubles match.
Foley rallied from a set down to win her match at No. 1 singles, taking the decision 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7. Franklin's 2-6 players consisted of Logsdon, Caitlin Fedor, Terhune, Jenna Gates and Samantha Schick and all five were victorious in straight sets.
The Grizzlies will step back into conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 29) afternoon, hosting Hanover College at Grizzly Park. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
