FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's tennis team opened conference play on Saturday (Apr. 3) afternoon, hosting the Hanover Panthers at Grizzly Park.
The Grizzlies (1-3, 0-1 HCAC) were unable to get back to .500 for the spring, dropping an 8-1 matchup to the Panthers (1-2, 1-0 HCAC).
The Grizzlies lone point came in thrilling fashion from freshman Claire Cherry in the No. 6 singles position. After taking the first set and dropping the second in relatively short time, Cherry was able to hold on in the tie-breaking game to win 6-3, 1-6, 14-12.
Up next for the Grizzlies is a trip to North Manchester, Ind. for a conference matchup with the Manchester Spartans on Sunday, Apr. 11. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
