RECAP | Bostic Walks-Off Ravens, Grizzlies Pick Up Critical Sweep on Senior Day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College softball team played their final home games of the regular season on Tuesday (Apr. 27) afternoon, hosting the Anderson Ravens in a pair of pivotal games that counted against each team's conference record.

The Grizzlies (17-9, 6-4 HCAC) made the most of their chance to catch a team in front of them in the standings, sweeping the Ravens (9-17, 5-5 HCAC) by scores of 8-0 and 4-3. It was the perfect final send off for seniors Alisha Burch, Kyra Frye, Natalie Weber, Abby Hickson and Samantha Cain, with all five playing a critical role in the sweep.

Game One: Franklin 8 – Anderson 0 (5 inn.)

Sydney Bostic got Franklin off and running in game one with an RBI single and the Grizzlies padded their lead an inning later with a two-run double off the bat of Sydney Rodeghier. Weber plated a run with a double in the top of the fourth and two-run hits from Cain and Annie Kluemper in the fifth invoked the mercy rule.

Rodeghier and Bostic both had two hits in the game as Franklin finished with 11 hits total. Alisha Burch (9-4) was dominant in the circle, scattering three hits and walking one while striking out four as the Ravens never threatened against the Franklin ace.

Game Two: Franklin 4 – Anderson 3

Anderson grabbed their first lead of the day with a pair of runs in the second, but their lead was erased with a three-run Franklin second. Cain brought home a run with a fielder's choice and Frye followed with a two-run double, just missing out on her first career home run but staking Franklin to a 3-2 lead.

Anderson tied the game with a run in the third and both teams would trade threats until the final inning. Franklin loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, setting the stage for Bostic to play the hero.

Delanie Gourley (8-4) got the game two start and allowed six hits with two walks and a strikeout in a complete game effort, giving her wins in her last three decisions.

Up Next

Franklin hits the road on Saturday (May 1) for two more conference matchups, taking on the Defiance Yellow Jackets. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
