FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Franklin College women's tennis team began their 2021 spring season on Friday (Mar. 5) afternoon, taking on the Greenville University Panthers at Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
On a brisk afternoon, the Grizzlies (0-1) fell to the defending SLIAC runner-up Panthers (2-0) by a 7-2 count. Greenville took two out of the three doubles competitions before claiming all but one singles showing.
Sophomore Kinley Harmon played a role in grabbing both points for Franklin. The Scottsburg, Ind.-native teamed with junior Addie Rund for the first time and won at the No. 3 doubles spot in tie-breaker fashion 8-7 (7-5). When action shifted to singles play, Harmon held on for a three-set win at the No. 5 spot 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 to record her first career singles victory.

-Three players made their career debut for Franklin in the match with freshmen Caitlin Fedor, Claire Cherry and Maecee Terhune all suiting up.
-Rund played at the No. 3 singles position for the first time in her career, falling in straight sets.
-Friday's match featured two dual athletes suiting up for the Grizzlies in Rund (basketball & tennis) and Cherry (lacrosse & tennis).
