ELSAH, Ill. – The Franklin women's tennis team collected their first win of the spring on Saturday (Mar. 27), besting Principia College by a 5-4 score.
The Grizzlies (1-2) saw three players collect wins in both singles and doubles play in the win. Franklin claimed a pair of doubles wins and three victories in singles play to hold off the Panthers (0-3).
The Grizzlies' top doubles team of Caitlin Fedor and Kinley Harmon grabbed Franklin's first point of the day with an 8-2 win and were followed by Maecee Terhune and Samantha Schick earning an 8-6 win from the No. 2 spot. The Panthers claimed the final doubles point by default.
Harmon was the first player to pick up her second point in singles play, winning the No. 4 match by a 6-1, 6-0 score. Schick was next to join her with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the No. 5 position and Fedor closed out a Franklin win by winning the No. 2 singles match 6-4, 6-2.
The Grizzlies will be off until next Saturday (Apr. 3) when they open conference play at home against Hanover. First serve from Grizzly Park is set for noon.
