RECAP | Women's Tennis Maintains Spotless Fall Record with Win at Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Franklin women's tennis team maintained a spotless record in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Sunday (Sept. 23), rolling to an 8-1 win over Manchester University.

The Grizzlies (4-0, 3-0 HCAC) started off the match by taking all three doubles points. Franklin's top doubles team of Karen Dringenburg and Maddie Bright held on for an 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot, maintaining their perfect record as a pair in the fall. The No. 2 team of Grace Otte and Brianna Hutton claimed an 8-0 win, a score matched by the No. 3 pair of Tapanga Gauck and Emily Seger.

Dringenburg moved to 4-0 in singles play this year with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the top of the singles lineup. Alexa Schofner also remained perfect in singles action after taking a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot to close out the win. Bright was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at the three-spot, Otte claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win from the fourth position and Hutton was a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 winner in No. 6 singles play.

The Grizzlies step out of conference play for their next match, taking on IU-Kokomo on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m. in Franklin.
