Softball Team Defeats MSJ

CINCINNATI, Ohio. (April 28, 2017) The Franklin College softball team earned a 7-1 win Friday night at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Mount St. Joseph.

The Grizzlies combined for 11 hits and committed no errors. Third baseman Alexis Tarver was 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored. Designated player Savannah Blevins was 1-for-4 with a home run, and second baseman Baylea Lyons was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Pitchers Kayla Selzer and Bailey Lindamood combined on a four-hitter. Selzer worked 3-1/3 innings and Lindamood worked the final 3-2/3 innings.

The game was part of a doubleheader, but the second game was cancelled in the top of the fifth inning due to rain. Franklin led 6-0 at the time.

With the win, the Grizzlies improve to 22-15 overall and 7-6 in the HCAC. They return to action Sunday for a doubleheader at Rose-Hulman. Game times are 1 and 3 p.m.
