Box Score 2 FRANKLIN, IN. (April 14, 2017) – Franklin College softball split Friday's doubleheader with Calvin College winning the first game 6-2 but falling short in game two.
In Game 1, Alexis Tarver singled to centerfield and scored Monica Collins for an early 1-0 lead. Calvin answered in the second, tying the game at 1-1. The Grizzlies took the game over, scoring five runs in the bottom of the third to ultimately earn the victory.
Pitcher Bailey Lindamood (4-2) faced eight batters and gave up no runs earning the win for Franklin.
Designated player Alexis Tarver went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Centerfielder Monica Collins added a triple for the Grizzlies.
Franklin combined for six hits in Game 1.
Despite gaining an early lead and posting eight hits as a team, the Grizzlies couldn't overcome Calvin's 10 runs.
Franklin turns around for another doubleheader against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Bluffton University on the road Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
