Box Score 2 BEREA, KY (February 26, 2017) – Franklin College softball opened their 2017 campaign in dominating fashion Sunday afternoon with two wins against Berea College.
The Grizzlies took game one of Sunday's doubleheader with a final score of 6-0 and used that momentum to win the second game 18-1 in five innings.
Junior pitcher Olivia Paszek earned a win finishing with 10 strikeouts and limiting Berea to only two hits in the first game. Freshman Kayla Selzer made her collegiate debut in game two with four innings pitched and giving up only two hits.
The Grizzlies totaled 7 hits in the first game. Shelby Mager went 2 for 3 on the game and Savannah Blevins scored 2 runs for Franklin.
In game two Franklin tallied 15 hits, 17 RBIs, and 18 runs.
Baylea Lyons went 3 for 4 and scored 4 runs for the Grizzlies.
Grace Paszek finished with 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and 1 run on 3 at bats.
Alexis Tarver posted 2 hits, 3 runs, and 7 RBIs with the win.
Softball is back in action on Saturday, March 4th when they host a double header against Kalamazoo in their home opener.
