LEXINGTON, Ky. – Playing in their second conference match in the last 24 hours, the Franklin College women's tennis team put their unbeaten conference record on the line on Sunday afternoon, taking on Transylvania University.

The short turnaround did nothing to slow the Grizzlies down, as Franklin left town with a 6-3 win to run their record to 8-1 in the fall and 4-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play.

A day after suffering their first loss as a team this fall, Franklin's top doubles tandem of Karen Dringenburg and Rachel Rose bounced back with an 8-2 win over Lillian Williams and Mary Grace Amato to open the day. Playing their first match of the year as the No. 2 team, Megan Battles and Lilly Bushong put the Grizzlies up heading into singles play with a 8-3 victory.

Dringenburg bounced back in singles play as well, taking a 6-2, 6-1 win over Merrick Irwin in a showdown of the No. 1 players. Rose followed suit with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Amato at the two-spot.

Alexa Schofner went the distance with Williams at the No. 3 spot, but was able to battle back from down a set for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win. Bushong closed out a perfect week on the courts with a 7-6, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot. Bushong grabbed four points across both conference matches this weekend.

The Grizzlies will get some much-deserved rest before hitting the road for an HCAC showdown with Earlham next Saturday (Oct. 7). First serve is set for noon eastern time.
