Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's tennis team earned straight-set triumphs on all six singles courts to pick up a 7-2 home victory against Anderson University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Wednesday from the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
The Grizzlies evened their conference record through four matches with the home triumph. Anderson recorded victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles courts to hold a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
However, Franklin (2-3, 2-2 HCAC) bounced back with straight-set victories at all six positions. Sophomore Karen Dringenburg dropped only four games on the No. 1 court. Sophomore Rachel Rose recorded a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 singles. Dringenburg and Rose teamed up for an 8-1 doubles victory on the No. 1 court.
Sophomore Alexa Schofner won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, while junior Megan Battles won by identical 6-4 set scores at No. 4 singles. Freshman Ashley Sadler did not lose a game on the No. 5 singles court. Sophomore Brianna Hutton rounded out the singles winners with a 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory at No. 6 singles.
Franklin returns to action on Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m. when it travels to Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana for a HCAC contest.
