Franklin, Ind. - Franklin College sophomore Karen Dringenburg earned a victory in singles and doubles action to lead the women's tennis team in a 7-2 loss to Transylvania University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Sunday from the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
Transylvania (3-1, 2-1 HCAC) took two of the three doubles matches to grab early momentum of the match. Dringenburg teamed with sophomore Rachel Rose to drop only one game at No. 1 doubles.
Dringenburg earned a straight-set singles triumph on the No. 1 court.
Junior Megan Battles lost a hard-fought three-set singles match on the No. 4 court. She won the opening set by a 6-4 score, but later lost a deciding third-set tiebreaker by a 10-7 score.
Franklin stands 1-3 on the season and is 1-2 in HCAC action. The Grizzlies return to action on Wednesday, September 21 at 6 p.m. when they host Anderson University in a conference match from the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
