Softball's Record-Setting Season Ends at HCAC Tournament

Lexington, Ky. - The Franklin College softball team's record-setting 2016 spring season came to an end with a 5-3 loss to Anderson University on Saturday at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference double-elimination tournament at Transylvania University.

The Grizzlies won a single-season school record 25 games (25-14) in 2016. Franklin advanced to Saturday with a 9-8 win in nine innings over top-seeded Transylvania University on Friday.

Franklin took a 3-1 lead in the second inning following a two-run home run from junior Taylor Johnson (Beech Grove, Ind./Beech Grove).

Anderson scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead and added a solo home run in the sixth inning to cap the game's scoring.

Freshman Shelby Mager (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) tallied two hits in the game. Junior Savannah Blevins (Wilkinson, Ind./Eastern Hancock) and Johnson each had one hit.
