Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College women's tennis team lost its 2016 spring opener 8-1 at Hanover College on Sunday.
Freshman Holyn Eldridge (Warsaw, Ind./Concord) earned a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles to highlight the team's play.
Freshman Rachel Rose (Springboro, Ind./Springboro) lost a hard-fought match at No. 1 singles, losing the first set in a tiebreaker.
Sophomore Claire Hirsch (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) and freshman Tapanga Gauck (Milan, Ind./Milan) lost an 8-5 match at No. 3 doubles.
The Grizzlies (14-3) finished second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and advanced to the tournament championship match last fall.
Franklin concludes the 2015-16 season with a home match against Johnson University on Saturday, April 23, at 9 a.m. from the MIckel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
