Box Score 2 Bluffton, Ohio - The Franklin College softball team lost a pair of road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) games at Bluffton University, 6-0 and 7-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Bluffton scored two runs each of the first two innings to pick up the victory in the opener. The hosts added one run in the fourth and capped the scoring with a run in the fifth inning.
In the second game, Franklin jumped out a lead in the first inning behind a throwing error that allowed sophomore Megan Lalioff (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) to score.
The team took a 2-0 in the second inning on a single from Lalioff. The base hit scored sophomore Sara Thom (Mooresville, Ind./Monrovia).
Bluffton tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run third inning. The hosts took the lead for good in the fifth inning, plating three runs. The Beavers added two insurance runs in the sixth inning.
Vanosdol led Franklin's seven-hit attack in the second game with two hits. Senior Jessica Ayers (Frankfort, Ind./Frankfort) also recorded two hits. Sophomore Jasmine Hanna (Frankfort, Ind./Clinton Prairie), Lalioff, and Thom each tallied one hit in the game.
Franklin is scheduled to return to action when it hosts Kalamazoo College (Michigan) on Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m. from Behrens Field. The team also hosts Transylvania University in HCAC action on Tuesday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m. Live statistics of both games will be available.
