Box Score 2 Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College softball team lost a pair of games to Hanover College, 4-0 and 8-4, in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Friday afternoon from Behrens Field.
Franklin (13-9, 2-4 HCAC) scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 4-2 lead in the second contest. Hanover (11-7, 3-3 HCAC) rallied behind a six-run seventh inning to pick up the doubleheader sweep.
Sophomore Baylea Suiters (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) tallied three hits in the nightcap to lead Franklin's seven-hit offensive effort. Sophomore Jasmine Hanna (Frankfort, Ind./Clinton Prairie) added two hits and scored one run. Junior Katie Struewing (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) had a run-scoring single that gave the hosts a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Sophomore Savannah Blevins (Wilkinson, Ind./Eastern Hancock) followed with a triple to score Struewing to cap the team's scoring in the third inning.
Hanover plated one run in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead in the second game.
In the opener, the Panthers scored two runs in the third and fourth innings to pick up the victory.
Franklin resumes the home weekend with a HCAC doubleheader against Manchester University on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. Live video and statistics of the games will be available.
