Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's basketball team concluded the 2014-15 season with an 89-58 home loss to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference co-champion Defiance College on Sunday from the Spurlock Center.
Sophomore Aaron Mann (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) led three double-figure scorers for the Grizzlies with 19 points. He scored 15 or more points in 16 of the last 17 games. Sophomore Matt Niehoff (Rushville, Ind./Rushville) and freshman Jim Mace (Brazil, Ind./Northview) each scored 10 points.
Defiance had four players reach double figures, led by Bernard Edwards with 22 points. Travis Schomaeker scored 17 points, while Mason Roth added 16 points. Wade Wooley rounded out the attack with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Defiance earned a share of the league title and hosting rights as the No. 1 seed for the HCAC tournament, beginning on Friday, February 27.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an 18-4 lead seven minutes into the contest. The visitors led 43-24 at halftime.
Franklin would cut the deficit to 17 points on three separate occasions in the second half. However, the Grizzlies were unable to get any closer during the second half.
