Cooper Matthews had a big hand in both of Franklin's men's basketball wins over the past few days, and his conference peers took notice.

The junior from Hamilton, Ohio earned HCAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading the Griz to victory in their regular-season finale as well as the quarterfinal round of the league tournament.

Hamilton stuffed the box score in last Wednesday's 76-70 home win over Manchester, collecting 21 points, five rebounds, eight assists and four steals. He followed that with 17 points, three assists and two steals in an 80-51 blowout win at Mount St. Joseph, helping Franklin become the only road team to advance in the men's tourney.

Matthews and the Griz advance to play at top-seeded Transylvania in an HCAC semifinal clash this Friday (5 p.m.).
