Cooper Matthews and
Justin Harrington have been integral parts of an electric backcourt this season for Franklin men's basketball. On Wednesday afternoon, the duo found its way into the spotlight once again.
The two Grizzlies were both voted as All-HCAC players by the league's coaches, with Matthews making the first team and Harrington named honorable mention.
Matthews is Franklin's leading scorer this season with 15.9 points per game. The junior, who has earned HCAC Player of the Week honors twice this month, has also totaled 104 rebounds, 81 assists and 47 steals over 26 games.
Harrington saw little action last year as a freshman but made an early statement this winter, picking up an HCAC Player of the Week nod while pouring in 89 points off the bench over the Grizzlies' first four games. The Indianapolis product averages 14.3 points and leads the team in made 3-pointers with 49 as well as in free throw percentage at 83.2% (84 for 101). He also has 81 rebounds, 33 assists and 33 steals across 25 appearances.
Seeded fifth in the HCAC tournament, Franklin throttled Mount St. Joseph 80-51 in the quarterfinal round, the lone team to win a first-round road game. The Griz play a semifinal Friday evening (5 p.m.) at top seed Transylvania.
