Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's basketball team had four players reach double figures, but it was not enough in losing 102-93 to Anderson University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Saturday from the Spurlock Center.
Franklin shot 52.3 percent in the game and had a career-high 21 points from sophomore Robbie Prather (Franklin, Ind./Roncalli). Sophomore Aaron Mann (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) scored 19 points. Junior Trae Washington (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) added 16 points and nine assists. Sophomore Brett McCory (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points.
Anderson (5-8, 4-2 HCAC) closed the first half on a 14-6 run over the final 4:16 to take a 48-40 lead into halftime.
Franklin (3-10, 2-4 HCAC) scored on its first four possessions of the second half. However, the Ravens matched with baskets on their first five possessions. A layup by Prather trimmed the deficit to 60-54 with 15:45 left.
Later, a three-point play by sophomore John Beineke (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) brought Franklin within 65-60 with 12:18 remaining. Anderson used an 11-4 run over the next three minutes to take a 75-64 lead.
The Grizzlies battled back to trail by eight points, 80-72, at the 6:12 mark. A three-point field goal by Prather cut the margin to five points, 96-91, with 50 seconds left.
Anderson made all eight of its free throw attempts in the final 1:09 to secure the victory. The Ravens went 29-of-39 from the free throw line in the game.
Anderson's Max Mollaun scored 30 points and Justin Jordan added 29 points.
Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from the Spurlock Center.
