Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's tennis team remained perfect during its 2014 spring schedule with a 6-3 home victory over Anderson University on Saturday from the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.

Franklin improves to 11-5 on the season and has recorded spring victories over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (April 5), Central State University (April 9) and Anderson.

After trailing 2-1 following doubles, the Grizzlies used a charge in singles play. The team won five of the six matches.

Sophomore Melissa Sanders (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) earned a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles. Classmate Emily Roberts (Franklin, Ind./Edinburgh) had a 6-2, 6-3 triumph on the No. 3 singles court. Sophomore Chelsea Howell (West Harrison, Ind./Franklin County) was also a straight-set winner at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Kayla Walker (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 singles position. Junior Bethany Harris (Avon, Ind./Avon) rounded out the winners in singles with a 6-4, 7-6 (1) triumph on the No. 2 court.

The Howell-Sanders tandem won 8-5 at the top of the doubles lineup.

Franklin returns to action on Sunday, April 13 at 11 a.m. when it travels to Hanover College.
