Box Score Cincinnati, Ohio - The Franklin College men's basketball team had three double-figure scorers, but it was not enough in losing 84-68 at Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play.
Sophomore John Beineke (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) scored a career-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Robbie Prather (Franklin, Ind./Roncalli) connected on five three-point field goals to tally 17 points. Classmate Brett McCory (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) rounded out the scoring attack with 14 points.
MSJ (5-2, 2-1 HCAC) shot 59 percent in the contest. Mark Allen scored a game-high 23 points, while Joe Scudder added 21 points.
The Lions led 36-28 at the half and pushed their lead to 12 points, 40-28, in the first minute of the second half.
Franklin used an 11-4 run to cut the deficit to 44-39 after a layup from freshman Jim Mace (Brazil, Ind./Northview) at the 16:02 mark. MSJ withstood the run and pushed its lead to 15 points with 6:55 left.
The Grizzlies return to action on Wednesday, December 17, at 8 p.m. when it hosts Thomas More College in non-conference action from the Spurlock Center.
