The goals were harder to come by against Muskingum than they were a year ago for Franklin women's soccer.
Fortunately for the Grizzlies, the defense held up its end of the bargain to preserve a scoreless tie on the road Saturday afternoon.
Franklin (2-4-1) outshot the Muskies 18-11 overall, but the home team managed a slim edge in shots on goal (6-5). Griz goalkeeper
Abi Medaugh stopped all six of those Muskingum attempts on the day to maintain a clean sheet in her collegiate debut.
The Grizzlies unloaded 10 shots in the first half, including two on frame late in the first half from
Trinity Inglert and
Lauren Barker, but couldn't break the ice.
Amirah Curry put another shot on goal about five minutes into the second half, and
Amani Kincaid added another in the 64th minute. Inglert put a shot on frame with under six minutes left, and then it was up to Medaugh to preserve the stalemate, with the freshman stopping a pair of Muskie shots in the last three minutes of the match.
Another road test awaits Franklin on Wednesday evening when it travels to Asbury.
