As year two of the second
Mike Leonard era approaches, Franklin College football continues to reshape itself.
The Grizzlies have made several additions and changes to their coaching staff this offseason, headlined by this month's addition of Logan Haston as the team's quarterbacks and wide receivers coach.
Haston, whose son Logan will be a sophomore for the Griz this fall, comes to Franklin after four seasons as a high school head coach at nearby Columbus North.
Two other coaches with Columbus North roots, Tim Bless and Aaron Karrer, have also joined Leonard's staff. Bless — who preceded Haston as the Bull Dogs' head coach (2000-21), will coach Franklin's cornerbacks, with his longtime assistant Karrer now slotting in as Leonard's offensive line coach.
Kendal Kendrick, who played at Ball State and was most recently an assistant at his former high school, Franklin Central, has joined the Grizzlies as a defensive line coach. Former Griz player Brock Thurman returns as the assistant defensive line coach.
In addition,
Rob Henkle has moved from assistant running backs coach to assistant wide receivers coach, and team chaplain
Bud Boughton has added the title of director of professional development.
The Grizzlies will open the 2026 season at Faught Stadium on Sept. 5 with a 6 p.m. game against North Park.
