Franklin women's tennis got off to a strong start against Anderson on Saturday, sweeping all three doubles matches — but singles play belonged to the visiting Ravens, who skipped town with a 5-2 win.
The doubles point went the way of the Grizzlies (7-7).
Ailyn Hendricks and
Emma Tranter rolled to a 6-2 win in the No. 1 spot,
Emma Sappenfield and
Eleanor Stillabower were a 6-4 winner at No. 2 and
Brenna Atchison teamed with
Reagan Cox for a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Anderson won the first three singles points, while Atchison kept the Griz hopes alive with a 6-0, 6-1 rout at sixth singles. The visitors came away with the win after edging Stillabower (No. 4) and Sappenfield (No. 5) in three-set battles.
The Grizzlies travel to Rose-Hulman on Sunday for a noon showdown.
