Ever since arriving on Franklin's campus,
Drew Helton has been about as close to a sure thing on the baseball diamond as anyone could be. His performance over the past week certainly made his conference peers take notice.
Helton was a machine in the No. 3 spot for the Grizzlies, batting .500 (9 for 18) with three walks across four games — all Franklin wins. The sophomore, a native of Whiteland, Indiana, hit three doubles on the week and drove in 10 runs, with six of those coming in last Thursday's rout of Wilmington. Helton delivered three more RBI hits in a Sunday win over Albion, completing a weekend sweep.
He also played an error-free first base, making 33 putouts (including several on unassisted plays) without an error.
Winners of four in a row, Helton and the Grizzlies are on the road Wednesday against Millikin.
