All it took was an unbeaten month and an overtime victory over the league's seven-time defending champion for the team atop the HCAC to get some love from its peers.

Franklin senior guard Jordan Coon was selected as the HCAC's Player of the Week in women's basketball after leading the Grizzlies to a pair of wins and sole possession of the conference lead. She is the first player on the roster to earn the weekly award this season.

In last Wednesday's 76-73 OT thriller against perennial league power Transylvania, Coon scored 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, helping Franklin end a decade-long drought against the Pioneers that had spanned the last 18 meetings. Nine of her points came in the fourth quarter or overtime.

Coon followed up by stuffing the stat sheet in a 79-68 road win over Rose-Hulman. The Evansville, Indiana native scored a game-high 21 points and added six rebounds, eight assists and three steals to help the Grizzlies overcome an early deficit and extend their winning streak to seven games.

Franklin (13-3 overall, 8-1 HCAC) begins the back half of its league schedule this Wednesday night (Jan. 21) when it travels to Anderson for a 7 p.m. showdown.
