For the second day in a row, Franklin swimming and diving went up against a larger and deeper in-state rival on Saturday, putting up a valiant fight before ultimately coming up short.
The Grizzly women fell by a 170.5 to 125.5 margin, while the men fell by a score of 214.5 to 81.5.
Junior
Avery Tomlinson led the way for the Franklin women, getting first to the wall in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and finishing second in the 200 individual medley. ClassmateÂ
Kat Lundy was also a double winner, picking up first place in the 100 and 200 backstroke races.
Alexis Fleming and
Kaleigh Schuler finished 1-2 on the 1- and 3-meter diving boards,Â
Celeste Hollis was victorious in the 200 butterfly and second in the 100 fly.
Petal Sloan was second in both the 50 and 100 freestyle and also tied for second in the 200 free.
The Griz men got individual victories from
Zachary Jackson-Blaine, who took first in the 50 freestyle;Â
Will Johnson, who won the 200 backstroke; and
Phoenix Simons in 3-meter diving. They also got runner-up finishes from
Keaton Stephenson (200 freestyle),
Sam Hittel (100 back),
Isaac Layton (200 fly, 500 free) and Simons (1-meter diving).
Franklin returns to action this Friday (Jan. 23), putting its perfect HCAC dual record on the line against Rose-Hulman.
