For the second straight weekend, Franklin women's tennis traveled across state lines for a pair of matches, this time going westward to face Illinois College and Olivet Nazarene.

The Grizzlies took a 7-0 loss to the host Blues before bouncing back with a 6-1 triumph over ONU.

Though swept against Illinois College, the Grizzlies (3-4) did push three singles matches to three sets before falling in super tiebreakers. Reagan Cox was edged in an 11-9 tiebreak at third singles, while Sofie Ballesteros and Eleanor Stillabower both coming up short in 10-7 battles.

Against the Tigers, Franklin won the doubles point courtesy of victories from Stillabower and Emma Sappenfield at No. 2 and from Cox and Alleigh Leezer at No. 3. In singles, Emma Tranter was a 6-1, 6-3 winner in the second spot, while Cox took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3. Leezer (7-5, 6-0), Stillabower (6-4, 6-1) and Sappenfield (6-4, 6-3) picked up the points in the fourth through sixth positions.

Next up for the Grizzlies will be a home match against IU East on Oct. 2.
