For the first time this season, Franklin women's soccer held an opponent scoreless for 90 minutes.
Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they weren't able to put the ball in the back of the net either, and were thus left to settle for a 0-0 tie at Knox on Saturday afternoon despite an 11-3 advantage in shots.
"We also played some really dangerous crosses that no one could come away with," Grizzlies coach Jen Jackson said. "Felt unlucky we didn't come away with it today."
Franklin (1-3-1) went on the attack early, with
Amani Kincaid putting a shot on frame in the first minute of play and
Madison Hill doing the same in the eighth minute. The Grizzlies also had some chances late, with Hill and
Courtney Tsamba both testing Knox goalie Darby Wallig in the 84th minute. Neither team, though, could break through before time expired.
Wallig made seven saves for Knox, while Franklin netminder
Emma Watson made one save in each half to notch her second career shutout.
"We played hard for 90 minutes," Jackson said. "It was a physical battle and we were really pushing for a goal. Took lots of opportunities, but just couldn't break through. We want to grow and learn from this and get better going forward. Even though we didn't get the win, there were lots of good takeaways from today."
The Grizzlies play at Spalding on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
