Franklin used an opening-minute goal to seize the upper hand in a Saturday win over Muskingum. On Wednesday afternoon, it was visiting Alma's turn to set the tone early.

The Scots got on the board just 47 seconds in when Anna Waterstredt got behind the Grizzly defense and beat goalkeeper Emma Watson from point-blank range. The rest of the half was fairly evenly contested, with each side taking three more shots. All three of Franklin's shots in the first half were on goal, but all were saved by Alma's Mya Pofahl.

Waterstredt scored again in the second half to give the visitors a two-goal cushion, and the Grizzlies (1-3) were not able to crack the Scots' defense, managing just one shot in the second half.

Watson finished with two saves for Franklin and made several other plays to swallow the ball up before a shot on Alma's 11 corner kicks, none of which yielded a goal.

The Grizzlies are on the road Saturday afternoon against Knox.
