Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Franklin women's tennis team brought their regular season to a close on Sunday (Apr. 27) afternoon, taking on the Hanover Panthers.
The Grizzlies (7-14, 2-5 HCAC) fell to the Panthers (4-7, 3-4 HCAC) by a 5-2 score and as a result will enter conference tournament play as the number six seed overall.
All three doubles matches were tightly-contested, with
Alyssa Harmon and
Sofie Ballesteros earning a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles. But the Panthers earned the doubles point, winning each of two matches at the top of the lineup by 6-4 scores.
Ballesteros picked up a hard-fought point at No. 2 singles with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win and Harmon claimed her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles. But the Panthers took the other four singles showdowns, earning the win and the higher seed in the conference tournament.
Franklin turns their attention to the opening round of the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament, which gets underway on Wednesday, Apr. 30 in Richmond, Ind. against third-seeded Earlham. Start time for the match will be announced in the coming days.
