Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Franklin women's tennis team played the final non-conference match of their schedule on Saturday (Apr. 19), taking on Indiana-Southeast at the West Indy Racquet Club.
 
The Grizzlies (7-11) took an early lead but stumbled in singles play, with the Grenadiers (9-10) rallying to take a 4-3 win.
 
Franklin earned the doubles point with Mattie Foster and Emma Sappenfield teaming up for a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles and the Grizzlies taking another doubles win by default. Brenna Atchison earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and Mattie Foster was a winner by default at No. 6 singles. But the top four spots in singles play went to IU-Southeast, with two needing tie-breakers to settle.
 
Franklin now turns their attention to a busy final week of regular season play that features three matches against conference opponents. The first comes on Tuesday (Apr. 22) night at home against Rose-Hulman, with first serve from Grizzly Park set for 5:30 p.m.
