Franklin women's volleyball made big strides on the court this season, and its conference peers took notice.
The Grizzlies were well represented when the HCAC's all-conference teams were released Wednesday morning, with senior
Hope Moring earning a spot on the first team and both junior
McKenzie Schroeder and freshman
Lauren Kinsey making the second team. Kinsey was also named to the league's first-year team.
Moring has been a six-rotation beast for the Grizzlies all season long. Playing both outside hitter and setter, she comes into tonight's HCAC tournament quarterfinal at Transylvania ranked second on the team in both kills (248) and assists (312), while also adding 165 digs, 38 blocks and 34 service aces. A native of Butler, Indiana, Moring has had three triple-doubles on the season (two against Kalamazoo and one against HCAC regular-season champ Earlham) and a dozen other double-doubles.
Schroeder has hammered down 213 kills while posting a .296 hitting percentage, and she was also second among Franklin players with 55 blocks. The Linden, Indiana native has had double-digit kills in nine matches, with a high of 17 against Earlham. Kinsey, meanwhile, has a team-high 88 blocks (21 solo, 67 assist), with eight matches of five blocks or more. The freshman from Goshen, Indiana has also collected 138 kills.
With a victory tonight, Franklin (15-14) can assure itself of its winningest season since 2015.
