Facing fourth and 8 from his own 31-yard line with his team down by five points late,
Marshall Kmiecik found a way.
Franklin's sophomore quarterback found
Jordan Fonda near the sideline for an 11-yard gain to keep hope alive, then followed with completions on the next three plays as well. The last of those, a jump ball to
Isaiah Miller with 1:13 on the clock, capped a seven-play, 71-yard drive with what proved to be the winning touchdown in a 34-33 thriller at Muskingum on Saturday.
For his efforts, Kmiecik was chosen as the HCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Michigan City, Indiana native threw for 335 yards and three touchdowns, and he added a 15-yard scoring run to help the Grizzlies finish their nonconference slate with a 2-2 record. Kmiecik now has 1,095 passing yards on the season, with 11 TDs against just three interceptions.
Franklin has its first HCAC matchup of the fall when it hosts Rose-Hulman this Saturday for its Homecoming game.
