RECAP | Rowe Stops Career-High 11 Shots in Draw with Scarlet Hawks

FRANKLIN – The Franklin College men's soccer team continued a three-game homestand on Sunday (Sept. 8) afternoon with a matchup against the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech at Faught Stadium.
 
The Grizzlies (0-3-1) and Scarlet Hawks (1-0-1) came away from the game with a point each, as the teams finished 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw.
 
How it Happened
Franklin opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a set piece, with Theo Sasso sending a free kick toward the IIT goal. The ball hit the Scarlet Hawks keeper in both hands a slipped past him into the net for Sasso's third goal of the year and a 1-0 Franklin lead.
 
Illinois Tech got the equalizer in the 48th minute, kicking off a frantic second half that saw both teams in search of the winning goal. The teams combined for 15 shot attempts the rest of the game, but neither team was able to put a ball in before the final horn.
 
Inside the Box Score

-Sasso topped the Grizzlies with three shot attempts and a pair of shots on target, and he matched his 2023 goal total with the free kick strike.
-Ian Rowe played a major role in the Grizzlies picking up a point, as he stopped a career-high 11 shot attempts.
