FRANKLIN – The Franklin men's soccer team opened their 2024 home schedule on Thursday (Sept. 5) night with a matchup against the DePauw Tigers at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (0-3) got the first career goal from
Britton Heinrich to negate an early DePauw (2-0-1) goal, but the Tigers took control the rest of the way in a 5-1 defeat for the home side.
How it Happened
Heinrich snuck in behind the DePauw defense for his fourth minute goal, with a long goal kick from
Ian Rowe deflecting in behind the defense and Heinrich put the ball away to knot things up at 1-1. But the Tigers would re-take the lead less than a minute after Heinrich's goal and would add insurance in the 36
th, 45
th and 90
th minutes, respectively.
Heinrich, Lucas Periera,
Alexandre Marijuan Padilla and
Adrian Carrasco all finished with shot attempts for the Grizzlies in the game.
Ian Rowe stopped a pair of DePauw shot attempts with
Easton Terry taking over late in the game and making one save.
