RICHMOND, Ind. – The Franklin College men's soccer team kicked off conference play on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon, taking on the Earlham Quakers.
The Grizzlies (0-9-1, 0-1 HCAC) got the first goal of the year from junior Lucas Periera, but were done in by a trio of second half goals as the Quakers (2-6-1, 1-0 HCAC) would take a 3-1 decision.
Periera sent the Grizzlies into the break with a goal late in the first half, taking a pass from
Adrian Carrasco and firing a hit shot into the Earlham net for the opener. But the Quakers' efficiency showed in the second half, as all three of Earlham's shots on target in the final half found the back of the net.
Shot attempts were 13-9 in Earlham's favor, with shots on target 4-2 in the Quakers' edge.
Lucas Flores led the Grizzlies with three shot attempts and one shot on goal. Carrasco's assist on Periera's first half goal marked the first point of his career.
