Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Franklin women's tennis team faced off with Division II foe Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (Mar. 9) afternoon in the team's first road match of the spring season.
The Grizzlies (2-5) claimed their second win of the spring, holding off the Panthers (0-4) by a 4-3 score.
Franklin claimed both doubles matches to earn the pivotal doubles point and take the early lead.
Ailyn Hendricks and
Maecee Terhune were 6-2 winners at No. 1 doubles with
Brenna Atchison and
Sydney Carson taking the No. 2 doubles match, 6-3.
Samantha Schick and
Michiah Draper earned a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
Hendricks and Atchison made it two points each with wins in singles play. Hendricks came away with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 1 doubles with Atchison claiming a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles. Draper earned the team's final point by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Franklin is off until Mar. 20, when they host Asbury University. First serve from Grizzly Park is set for 3:00 p.m.
