FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's basketball team secured a winning season on Wednesday (Feb. 7) night, one of several highlights in the Grizzlies' 80-57 win over Manchester in the Spurlock Center.
Prior to the start of the game, the Grizzlies (14-8, 9-6 HCAC) honored seniors
CiCi Bailey,
Kayla Bruner and student assistant Chelbie Anderson on Senior Night. When the action tipped off, Franklin led the Spartans (6-16, 3-12 HCAC) for all but 1:08 of game time in an 80-57 win.
How it Happened
The Grizzlies wasted little time putting the game out of reach, ripping off an 18-1 run in the first quarter that turned a 5-4 deficit into a 22-6 lead later in the opening period. Franklin's lead would grow to as many as 22 before the end of the first half, with the hosts taking a 43-24 lead into the locker room.
Manchester would get the Franklin lead down to as little as 12 in the second half, but a dominant fourth quarter from the home side led to an easy win for the Grizzlies.
