FRANKLIN – Powered by a fast start and a dominant second half, the Franklin women's basketball team rolled to a 79-62 win over the Bluffton Beavers on Saturday (Feb. 3) afternoon.
Sophomore
Jordan Coon finished with a career-high 29 points as Franklin (13-8, 8-6 HCAC) had four players finish the game in double figures to avenge a loss to the Beavers (7-14, 5-9 HCAC) earlier in the season.
How it Happened
Franklin connected on each of their first seven field goal attempts, racing out to a 16-3 lead in the game's first five minutes of action. Bluffton shook off their slow start, cutting Franklin's lead down to 24-17 after 10 minutes of play. The Grizzlies struggled to re-capture their offensive magic in quarter two, netting just two field goals in the period. But the defense held the Beavers at bay while the offense sputtered, and the teams headed into the break tied at 31.
The Beavers took their first lead of the day early in the second half, but the third quarter belonged to the home side. Franklin went 11-for-19 from the floor in the third and out-scored Bluffton 28-15 in the quarter to take a double digit lead into the fourth, and the lead would stay above 10 the rest of the way.
