CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin women's basketball team turned in a dominant performance on Friday (Nov. 22) night, cruising to an 89-70 win over Asbury University on night one of the Lauren Hill Classic, hosted by Mount St. Joseph University.
The Grizzlies (3-1) led for all but 29 seconds of play, getting out to a double-digit lead in the opening quarter and never looking back. Four Grizzlies finished the night in double figures, led by 24 points from junior
Jordan Coon.
How it Happened
Franklin grabbed a double-digit lead when
Brooke Grinstead buried a triple to make it 16-6 with 4:19 to go in the first quarter. The Grizzlies closed the opening quarter on a 15-2 run to open up a 24-8 lead by the end of the period. The Eagles would get back within seven mid-way through the second quarter, but another strong finish to a quarter sent Franklin into the locker room leading, 43-30.
The Grizzlies put the game well out of reach thanks to a dominant third quarter that saw Franklin out-score Asbury 29-16 and shoot 12-for-16 from the field. Franklin carried a comfortable lead throughout the fourth quarter to nab their third win of the season.
