FRANKLIN – The Franklin volleyball team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon, hosting the Anderson Ravens in the league opener for both teams.
Franklin (7-11, 0-1 HCAC) struggled to build off a strong second set and the Ravens (12-3, 1-0 HCAC) ran away with the game down the stretch, as Anderson took the match in four sets, 25-23, 18-25, 25-8, 25-14.
How it Happened
Both offenses were on it in the opening set, with each side hitting better than .300 and the teams combining for 34 total kills. The game sat tied at 23, but the Ravens came away with each of the last two points to win the opening set.
Franklin dominated the second game, hitting .333 to .086 for the Ravens and taking control of the set early. The hosts got four kills in the set from
Kaitlyn Lavy and led by as many as eight points before putting the set away with a kill from Lavy to even things up.
But the final two sets were all Ravens, as they controlled the action on the attack and at the front of the net en route to victory in the final two games.
