TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin volleyball teams stepped out of conference play on Wednesday (Oct. 9) afternoon for two matchups against NAIA foes Saint Mary of the Woods and the University of Health Science and Pharmacy (UHSP).
The Grizzlies (8-12) collected a split on their trip, falling in three sets to Saint Mary of the Woods before taking down UHSP in four sets to close out the day.
Saint Mary of the Woods 3 – Franklin 0

The Pomeroys got the better of the Grizzlies in the second meeting this season between the two sides, with the Grizzlies hitting .181 in the match to .342 for the home side.
Kaitlyn Lavy led the Franklin attack with eight kills and hit .304 in the match, with
Hope Moring putting down six kills and hitting .385.
Brionna Linkel handed out 12 assists and Linkel tied with Moring for the team lead in digs with six.
Franklin 3 – UHSP 1
17-25, 25-23, 25-9, 25-12
After dropping the opening set, Franklin turned the matchup on its head late in set two. Facing a 21-19 deficit, the Grizzlies rattled off five straight points to get to set point, and Moring put away the set winner after the Eutectics got back within a point. Franklin carried that momentous win into the next two games, which saw the Grizzlies hit better than .400 to close out the victory.
Moring had a huge game for the Grizzlies, setting a new career high with 17 kills and adding 16 assists along with a team-high four aces.
Trinity Schroeder finished with 12 kills and hit .474 on the night and Linkel added a team-high 24 assists. The libero duo of
Emily Holmer and
Charlotte Goto each hit double digit digs, finishing with 12 and 10, respectively.
