BEREA, Ky. – The Franklin College women's soccer team stayed perfect in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Saturday, with a 1-0 victory over Berea in the first ever league meeting between the two programs.
Freshman
Issy Pridemore potted the game winner with 10 minutes to play and Franklin (3-4-2, 2-0 HCAC) held off one late push from the Mountaineers (2-7, 0-2 HCAC) to keep a clean sheet for the second straight contest.
How it Happened
Franklin controlled the pace of play in the first half, firing 10 shots at the Berea goal with the hosts only attempting three. The shot count leveled out in the second half, and the game was set to enter the final 10 minutes scoreless before the Grizzlies hit paydirt.
Shelby Rendes brought the ball into the middle and found
Amani Kinkaid just outside the 18 yard box and Kinkaid found a wide open Pridemore streaking towards the goal. Pridemore ripped a shot from just outside the 18 yard box that bounced once and into the bottom left corner of the net for the first goal of her college career.
Franklin had to fend off one last chance from the hosts, clearing a Berea shot attempt off the goal line with three minutes to go, preserving the win.
